If possible, I would avoid third-party batteries. They may work now, but Nikon could potentially disable your non-Nikon battery with a firmware upgrade. You never know when Nikon will choose to do that. We get a lot of questions about the Nikon EN-EL15c, the update to Nikon's standard DSLR battery. So, what’s the difference between this updated battery and the older EN-EL15b and EN-EL15a versions?

Anyone knows if the D850 can be used with EN-EL15 batteries? Either original (rev 10) or (rev 20 - the ones from D500). I have had a Z6 for three years and a Z6ii for six months. My experience is that their battery consumption is not bad. Sometimes I capture 4K video continuously for an hour or two; in such case I may need to change battery after an hour. For still capture, there is typically no issue. If the 9th character of the lot number is any other letter, your battery is not affected by this recall.
