Description

Parent tester Catherine tested the Tommee Tippee Dreamee set with her baby, using the monitor and motion sensor for daytime naps and nighttime periods of sleep. She set up everything herself to give us a complete experience with this baby monitor. We spoke to these real parent testers to get their review... How did this product make your life easier? A strong camera clamp to grip to furniture:the baby camera holder has a strong clamp at the end of the flexible hose, and this securely clamps to most surfaces in the nursery. Easy to attach to furniture such as window ledge, arm of chair, cupboard door, a wall shelf etc. The baby monitor clip can also be attached to the cot. Once the Parent unit has charged, turn it and the Baby unit on and you’re ready to start monitoring.

To pair, press and hold the pairing button on the base of the camera while switching on the camera unit (a long press of the power button) until the transmit indicator starts flashing. The motion pad also uses battery power rather than the mains, so there are no trailing wires or exposed cords to worry about near your baby’s cot. Is it easy to keep clean? The motion sensor works via batteries (which aren’t included) but positioning the motion pad is relatively straightforward, placing it underneath the mattress where your baby is positioned during the night. What is the audio and video quality like? While the Yoo Moov features a good range of tools, we feel that the controls on its parent unit could be more intuitive. Being able to easily control features such as the volume – which is actually three steps away – would certainly keep things simpler for sleep-deprived parents trying to navigate the settings at midnight. Test the alarm by continuing to touch the mattress for a few moments and then step away from the cot and stop all movement near the sensor pad.The built-in room thermometer is great for peace of mind during peak hot and cold seasons and can reduce the need for a stand-alone nursery thermometer. It’s worth noting however that this rounds up to the nearest whole degree; so not as specific as some stand-alone thermometers. Is the Tommee Tippee Dreamee safe? Key specs – Range: 450m; Additional features: Low-battery indicator, out-of-range indicator, long battery life, light-up display when baby moves, belt clip; Warranty: 1 year The sensor pad does not carry any electricity and will not affect your baby even if the mattress is subject to bewetting or vomiting. Always ensure wires and cables are out of reach from your baby and younger children. Never place connecting cords amongst your baby's bedding, the child could be strangled.

It also offers 1080p video footage for clear visibility. The item is lightweight and extremely easy to set up, although you will need Wi-Fi to set it up and operate it. It comes in either baby blue or baby pink and has little teddy bear (blue) and bunny (pink) ears on top of the camera as an extra little design perk. It’s also made from safe and non-toxic materials.Note: To activate your movement sensor mat, set the movement monitoring function to ON in the menu. The camera also offers the ability to zoom in and pan around 330° horizontal and 110° vertical with a 60° field of view, ensuring no matter how much they wriggle in their sleep, you will always be able to maintain a clear view of your baby. With a 1080p HD monitoring camera, Arlo Baby offers one of the sharpest pictures in our test and has an impressive night vision of over 4.5 metres, so you can see your baby move when the lights go out. There’s also a multi-coloured night light, two-way talk and an air quality sensor built in to monitor the air condition, including temperature and humidity in your nursery. Being able to record your own voice and play it to your baby via the smartphone app is another nice touch.

Initially, our parent tester Catherine found the sensor far too sensitive, “it just kept beeping to tell me the baby wasn’t moving but that was because he was asleep.” Switch on both the camera and movement sensor pad and switch them on again for normal operation. The sensor pad is now ready for use. Movement sensors: Some monitors, generally on the more expensive end of the spectrum, come with a movement sensor that can be slipped under your baby’s mattress. This will detect your little one’s breathing and will sound an alarm if no movement is detected after a given period of time. It can be great for extra peace of mind, particularly with newborns. How do video baby monitors work?
